Tailight Swap help...got pulled over

Okay well last night I got pulled over(cop) for my tailights. They are the S5 swap but they are smoked. Anyways I have to go for inspection in a week. My question is can you just swap a s4 lense for now. If how does it come off/install?

i believe its a direct swap, but you'll need the harness lights as well.

Huh? The stock S5 lights are practically smoked from the factory.

Put in some brighter bulbs.

The S4s swap right in but as mentioned, you need the small harness on the back of the light.

Use plenty of penetrating oil on the nuts, and don't over tighten.

The harness is on the lights themselves. Something is different about the two series, but I don't remember what. It might just be wire lengths.

my s4 to s5 tail light swap was a direct swap. i just had to bend some metal to allow for the s5 housing. but direct swap for the wiring harness they're just in different places. didn't have to extend wires or anything and the whole swap took 10min.

wiring and harness is the same, I had to play with the bulb sockets to get them in, but they go in.

I would put one of the ears in first, then rotate it so the other ears lined up and gave them the 1/4 turn to tighten. You cant get all 3 ears to line up at the same time thats all.

i actually had problems with the two series. that's why i said if you swap, swap the light harness too. to me, my s4 harness did not mate well with the s5 sockets. it was either loose or did not fit.
