Question Tail Light Question...

Will S5 Convertible tail lights fit on a 1987 TII??? I found a set, and I was wondering about this before I bought the tails from the vert

They will fit. You will haveto do some trimming of the tails, and the license plate holder thingy, though. Nothing major, or noticable, if you do it cleanly. It's no hard, I did it at night in my friends driveway with a pocketknife, you should be fine.

Thanks dood.

Now, another question for those with knowledge. I saw a stage 4 turbo upgrade somewhere on the net, but it said it was only for S5 models. What's the difference between the S4 turbo and S5 turbo that would make that much of a difference. This upgrade just caught my eye because it said it could withstand between 370-390 horsepower I think

um. I didnt think the vert/coupe lights were interchangeable.. Coupe lights and vert lights are different.

Althoguht if you go s4 - s5 coup to coup or vert to vert, you have to cut a little bit of metal, no biggie though..

You are right Dezerte, The conv. lights do not fit the coupes. You will need to get coupe lights to do the s5 to s4 swap.

S4 and S5 turbos have the same compressor side, center section and turbine wheel, but the S5 turbos have a different turbine housing and manifold. The manifold is fully divided, the turbine housing has a higher A/R ratio and the wastegate is a bigger twin-port design. The S5 turbo has a slightly power potential, but it's superior wastegate design means far better boost control.

The most likely reason that upgrade is not offered for the S4 turbo is that the less capable wastegate can't control boost properly at the far higher exhaust flows that result from the upgrade.
