Anyone know anything about that? i looked throught my car and cant seem to find any disconteced wires, and then all of a sudden it starts sputtering so i decided to take out the spark plugs and there not the best....kinda gunged up...so i clean them off an put them back in and my car don't run anymore...im off to get new plugs i think thats it, maybe it will fix my tach too....if anyone else has had this problem let me know what it was or what you did...thanks

maybe your car is flooded? Try the deflooding trick.if not basically check for the essentials fuel, spark and timing. Good luck

if the new plugs don't fix the tach, take a look at the trailing coils for loose or shorted wiring...if the plugs were THAT bad, they may have fried the trailing coil(s)...that's where the tach gets its signal from...

I don't see why plugs would have anything to do with tach function, sounds like the whichever coil is responsible for the tach (sorry, I can find it on a diagram but I forgot which) is having trouble.

That or the gauge is faulty, but that would be very rare I would think.

check for spark on the trailing coil. you might be running only on the leading now. if you have spark then it's probably something in the cluster.
