Tach problem resolved, new issue crops up as a result
Sometime ago, I asked a question about the tach, whereby I was only getting response from the tach on acceleration, and once I got off the gas, it died. blip the gas, tach jumps.. Looks like the trailing coil gets a round from one of the mounts, and I had left it loose to bleed the clutch master.. Bolted it back on, tach works like a champ.
Now, installed my autometer tach, set it for 4 cylinder, and spliced it into the tach signal wire (Yellow/Blue). Tach works wonderful, except that once you get to the useful range (3K), it regularly reads 500RPM low, even at steady RPM. So..
it's either a POS stock tach , or something funky with the autometer tach install..
I'm sure some of you have these tachs, what's your experience?
Thanks,
PaulC

As long as the power, earth and signal connections are good, your install sounds right. If your friendly with a local mechanic, see if he has a diagnostic tachometer he can plug into the trailing coil. Then compare the stock and Autometer tachs to the diagnostic one to see which is right.
