T4 turbo?

Is there a T4 turbo that will bolt up to the stock S4 manifold? I have a Downpipe with a t4 turbo flange on it.

Thanks, Ed

No, all T04 turbos use a T04 flange on the compressor housing. This flange will not bolt to the flange on the stock manifold. Also, the flange on the downpipe is not T04 specific. T04 turbine housings can have a number of different flanges to bolt to the downpipe.

Can a stock S4 turbo be mated to a T4 exhaust housing?

Thanks, Ed

Why would you want to? In that case, you would still need an aftermarket manifold and downpipe, and be stuck with the shitty S4 turbo.... Dont base your entire setup on a downpipe that you have. That is incredibly stupid, considering it is probably the least expensive part of a turbo setup. If you need to, having a different flange welded on your "special" downpipe will not run you a lot of money. If you want an aftermarket turbo... you can either get a hybrid and use the stock manifold and a stock fitting downpipe, or get a full aftermarket setup and use a new manifold, turbo, wastegate, oil lines, IC piping, and have some sort of adapter created to connect to your existing downpipe (if you want to save money instead of having a full custom DP created.)

Not that stupid when the whole 3in exhaust from the turbo back was custom made for an FB. Its going in a 1st gen turbo project. I'm not trying to cut corners, if that was the case I can easily cut the STUPID T4 4 bolt circle flange and weld 3bolt triangle from mazdatrix. I'm just not familiar with the stock Hitachi turbo set up and was wondering what, if any T4's would mate to the stock manifold!

Thanks anyways, Ed

Buy the T4 flange for your turbo aplication and weld it to the original manifold. You will have no problems.

I dunno what exactly you're trying to do?

Are you talking about slapping a S4 CHRA and compressor section onto a T4 turbine housing?

Why would you want to do that?

Seriously, upgrading turbos can cost a lot of money.
If you don't have the money, don't even think about doing it.
