t2 swap or not? I need some help.

ok guys, im sorry to bring this to you guys but I have been stressing over this for the last 2 days.

the problem:
my n/a has a blown coolang seal and exhaust is going into the coolant system. (or coolant into the engine of of the 2 :0( )

I dont know what to do now and im getting sick (like really sick) of trying to figure out what to do.
option 1 ( I Think)
I have access to all the T2 stuff I need. Full parts cars and such.
I dont mind doing the work, I have 3 weeks till school starts.
Every post I see about a n/a to T2 says its a waste and that I should just sell the n/a and get a T2. BUT the problem is I cant sell this n/a for more then like 300$ now. :0(
(already replaced the tranny and put a ceramic clutch in there also. another waste of money!!! )
going to be around 2,000 for all parts, and there is still the chance that the NEW used t2 engine is blown....
but I will have more power

option 2:
rebuild the n/a. I dont think I Can do it myself, my dad said he asked some people and they have to be aligned like .0002 of an inch and he is sure that we couldnt do that. (I dont know if that is true, please let me know)
that will cost 1,800$ for akins to rebuild it and the parts he said.
slower.

if someone could help me that would be awesome. I dont know what side to pick.

(also, I have an 88 rx7 with LSD stock. Do I have to get the T2 diff or will my n/as LSD be strong enough? I dont want to risk anything, I drive the **** out of the rx7 and I need it to last)...

that being said. Thanks guys, im so stressed and stuck on what to decide I Will take any advice.

I was on the ball for the subject too. I had a '86 seven sport with a cracked coolant jacket, so much of the block wasn't useable (plus 178,00 miles didnt help. I wanted to do the turbo swap, but becuase I counldn't find a turbo motor with low enough miles on it, I wasn't willing to spend an upwards of 2k on turbo swap that won't last me that long. So I found a N/A motor replacement from a private party with 130,000k on it. Guy wanted 400 bucks for it. I did a compression check on the motor (it was still in the car) to confirm it was in decent shape, and bought it for 350.

In your case you said you had access to a turbo donor car? From there I would see how many miles it has, because then you can kinda guage how long you have till you need to rebuild and what not.

it has 130k miles on the engine for the donor car. The brake fluid had a small fire in the engine bay. Only the injector wire was hurt.

how easy is it to change the 1/2 shafts?? Hardest part of the swap?

just do the swap. if you have the parts just do it, its not very hard, all you need is engine, harness, ecu, techincaly. but you could use the driveshaft dif and axles. its freakin easy

Well, the turbo motor would likely need a rebuild, but you can get then done for about a grand at www.rotaryresurrection.com. Your current engine might have internal damage, so it could end up being more. If it were be, I would do the turbo swap, but rebuild it first and street port it while its out. It might be a little more up front, but you'll be very glad you did it in the long run.

Just fired up my JDM TII swap today!!

I just got my TII motor running today and what a blast. I put a TII in my n/a '90 GXL. It went together pretty good. I bought it on Ebay from Total JDM out of Toronto.

I had to buy a few things to get the swap done like a boost sensor, a Corksport 3" to 2.5" downpipe, a custom driveshaft to go from the turbo tranny to my n/a diff. It fired up right away and man does it move:-} ZOOM ZOOM

I've got to figure out how to get a turbo hood yet so I blocked up the back end of my hood up a couple inches so the intercooler could breath and only put in one of the hinge bolts on either side.

Sounds really nasty with an open downpipe. I'm going to use the stock cat back system until I save up enough coin for a new high flow system.

Starts missing at about 6500 rpm so I probably need a Fuel Cut controler for starters.
