t2 stumbles on accelerating

hi all Just put a t2 into my NA 88 gtu. First time starter it up today and it shot up to 3k then dropped down and idled. I was over joyed. BUT....

when I tap the gas it stumbles. It kinda spudders for a second then revs up. Any ideas on things I should look at?

Tomorrow im going to set the TPS, but other then that, there isnt much else I Can think of to check.

Let me know THANKS you guys are great!

oh and btw I dont have the air filter on nor any exaust. Just trying to get it to run right for now.

Can a vacuum leak cause this? I didnt think it would idle if it had a vac leak.

nope, just a down pipe thats barly on (2 nuts instead of 3) lost 1 somewhere. The only exaust I have is the NA, and I have to get that fixed so it will fit the turbo down pipe. That shouldnt have anything to do with the problem should it?

Timing, TPS...

Although there are a lot of things that could go wrong...

For starters, check the fuel filter as it probably hasn't been changed in a long time.

what ecu are you using? vac leak would probably raise idle speed, maybe tps or might just need to warm up?

Im using the ECU from the t2. Ok well I guess I will check timing tomorrow, (gata look that up I have no clue how) and then idle the car till it gets warm so I Can set the TPS. The fuel filter is semi new. Less then 2 months. ( I had my NA in it working great till right when I pulled it) The tranny broke so I went turbo everything.

ok so its not a vac leak cause then my idle would just be higher? It idles great. TPS and timing tomorrow. Glad I didnt put on the fan or radiator shroud till I get it all figured out.

Thanks all.

Also BTW how do I check to make sure my OMP is working?

Another weird thing is that it does its warm up process (Where it jumps to 3k) just fine. It doesnt bogg or spudder when it tells itself to rev to 3k for 5 seconds. But when I tap the gas its a no no. hehe.

Set the idle first... than the timing, then the idle again (if it changes), then set the TPS (it seems to change whenever you adjust it..don't know why).

The timing is set by unbolting the CAS and twisting it until the timing light shows your leading plug is firing on the yellow mark (you point the timing light at the main pulley).

If you don't have a timing light, get one...

Don't set the timing unless the idle is under 1000.

It doesn't... on the turbo there's a bypass screw. On the NA it's on the throttle body.

Do I twist the screw that requires and allen wrench or the flat headed screw?

Its really weird I hold the gas a little to keep it alive and dont change the pressure on the gas at all and the rpm will bounce from 700 to 3000 randomly. Do I you need a video?
