is the t2 starter the same as an NA????

ok, my problem is this..... been looking at all the local parts store, and was able to find one for a na, but no luck w/ a t2 starter.... one of the people said that they were possibly the same, thats why there wasnt a seperate part #... i havnt taken the other starter off yet to compare, (even if i did compare, and they looked identical, they could still be internally different).. so, please help........ are they the same, or different..... and if different.... can anyone point me in the direction to get one????

No. Try finding a used on in the for sale section or on ebay. The automatic & turbo are interchangable, 5sp n/a to tII are not.

N/A automatic is the same. N/A 5 speed is different. I'm using the auto starter with my TII trans after I did the swap.

I've got a couple auto starters sitting around...

The better one was rebuilt 2500 miles ago and has a lifetime warrantee through checkers/advanced auto parts. Not sure if i can find the reciept for it though.

Edit: Found the reciept, Limited Lifetime warantee, paid $133.99 + $55 core.

Go to Pepboys, they're pretty damn cheap if you have a core. We tried putting my TII in my friends TII swapped car that he bought, and it didn't work since he had a N/A tranny, when it was supposed to be a TII according to the owner, lol..

I thought the only dif on the input shaft was the clutch disk size, and how it couldn't hold the power of the turbo? No way a turbo clutch dish and pp woudl fit in the n/a bellhousing though.

I know, its probably an N/A disk and Pressure Plate, the bolt pattern was different between the two starters.

Aauto starters are supposed to be stronger than t2 starters because they also have to turn the torque convertor I believe so that would be a good upgrade.
