T2 Omg!!!!!

I just got my T2 and I had to make a 45 mile drive for a meeting for work!
It is 98% highway and this is the first time I have had a chance to really open her up! Well I got to the usual stretch of highway where there is no place for the cops to sit and then 5th to 3rd!!! I wound the rest of third out and then 4th!!! I never even got out of 4th and I hit 140 mph!!! I have never DRIVEN at 140, it was a huge rush! Especially knowing that I had ALL of 5th left!!!
I just wanted to share my happiness with the fourm!

Sweet! I wish my N/A could hit 140 that easially. That's my top speed, no more left! Downshift to third, I also wish I could do that, transmission isn't in the greatest of shape.

140?!?!?!?!? Woow. My 87 tII can only hit about 125mph in 4th gear. I guess the s5's have slightly different ratios??

Sweet ride man. What are the mods??

do you have an S5 or S4? The S4's only hit 125 in 4th gear? Are you sure? I have an 87 TII also but I've hit 135mph at the end of 4th gear.

Yeah, be careful downshifting so quick. The tailend could slide out on ya. I took my TII up to 145mph... then I got scared. I don't have THAT much ***** yet..

Nearly all 5-speed cars have a 1:1 4th gear ratio, and an overdrive 5th gear. This includes all manual transmission RX-7s.

So do you mean that 5th gear is only going to lower my rpm's? There has to be power in 5th!

Sorry to disappoint, but that wasn't 140mph. Top speed in 4th on stock diameter tyres is 121mph. You cannot trust an 11yo speedo near the top of its scale.

He didn't say there wasn't, he just said it's an overdrive. For a Turbo, 5th is 0.762:1, so 5th will produce only 76.2% of the power and torque as 4th at the same rpm.

Wow, someone else who doesn't believe the numbers on the dial!

Speedos are USUALLY set to read too high ("optimistic"). I've heard of new BMWs where the speedo reads 40 and the actual car speed is 33!

Not sure if the gearing is the same, but at 8000 rpms in my N/A S5, I get about 215 km/hr. That's 133 mph.
That's also 8000, not 7000.
Not sure if my speedo is dead on or not either.
