wow.. i loved the first pic ... then the second showed the engine bay .... however im not going to flame it and hope this thread doesnt turn into a huge fight... i would be careful because MANY members on the forum are not too keen to pistons in a rx7... just warning you for tomm when everybody is awake and posting... great looking shell though

I'm not flaming the fact that they installed a piston engine in it (even though I am against it), but if someone is going to that much trouble to do a conversion, why would they use an S2000 engine over an LS1? It's a clean install but it could have been done bigger and cheaper.

i saw that saturday and almost cried. it was labeled as a drift car... why swap a motor with NO torque into a "drift" car? the whole show sucked, by the way.

Keepin with the no-flamin thing, the exterior of the car is just awesome. Love the lexan windows and hatch (for racing that is, too extreme for street for most ppl). I aslo like the very different idea of no body-side mouldings. I haven't seen that done b4, altho he should have done it all the way around. Yeah, it has no soul, and all that. But at least it looks really awesome. The front mouldings look really neat tho, fit the lines perfectly, I would've thought it to be an S5 with the way they fit, then I seen the taillights.

Rx7s are somewhat drift cars and I know mine has no torque.

and on the ls1, why put that much weight into the front of that car, then it is just a straight line beast. I think am s2000 motor in my rex pushing 240 @ 9k. for not much of a weight change would be tight as hell.

And I saw some other respectable cars there, the miata w/ the carbon fiber hood top and trunk looked pretty monster.

O MAN, that 4 wheeler is awesome, lol. Love the rims, wonder what it runs? LOL. O yeah and as for engine swaps, instead of LS1, why not go LS6? 50+ more HP, more torque, and Lingenfelter has a twin-turbo kit for it. How did the Hardee's commercials put it awhile back? IF you're gonna go, go all out. Again, im not fan of any RX-7 motor swap other than a rotary, but geez an LS6 TT pushin over 600HP in what would be a lil over 3000lb car, WOW.

that car weights closer to 2000lbs minus the driveshaft and radiator and wiring and other small stuff, it weighted in at 1900lbs

thats with the 10pt cage and it being fully seam welded

Power to weight ratio

600hp LS1 in a 3000# chassis = 0.2
300hp F20 in a 2000# chassis = 0.15

That's IF the S2K motor puts out 300, which is possible.
The LS1 still beats the F20 in power to weight ratio, 33% increase over the F20 or 25% decrease from the LS1 - either way, it loses.

Hawaii

Didn't realize that many people in hawaii had 2nd gens, I hardly ever see them on the road. Not like the 240's.

All of the ones I work on are not usually driving around.

Other than that, there is maybe a handful (about 5 or 6) that I regularly see driving around.

This is on Oahu; I dunno what island you're on.

No, 1st gen's are extremely rare.
It's funny though, there seems to be just as many GSL-SE's versus non-GSL-SE's on the road...which is not many.
I typically see maybe one 1st gen a week or two.
They are almost as rare as Turbo II's.
FC non-turbos are pretty plentiful - you see them almost everytime you go out.
FD's are pretty rare, but they are around - many of them are from the mainland though.
