swapping S4 temp sensor into an S5...accuracy is what?

I know some people around here have swapped the S4 sensor into an S5 car so that they can get a better reading rather than the oh-so-great "cold-normal-new engine" readings we get from the S5 sensor. But swapping the sensor will I get an accurate reading from the gauge? Like if it is at the 1/4 low range is that the same as 1/4 S4 guage or what? My old S4 would run around 1/4 to 1/3 guage will this "reading" be accurate?

The last time I looked the resistance of both are the SAME. The thread pitch is different I believe. It would be the gauge that would be different.

yes, it is in the gauge.
i have an S4 sensor with an S5 gauge cluster, and it reads half way when warmed up, just like any other normal running S5...

Same here. I suppose they had a diffrent gauge movement so that it's in the middle when at temperature. Most people like the gauges to be in the middle.

is there any kind of modification that we can do to linearize the temp gauge? i think there is something like that you can do for the FD...seems like something that may be useful

I have a s5 TII Block In my 88 GXL. At first the readings were abit flucky, but this was due to a bad sensor. I ended up buying a new Water Temperture Sensor from Mazda and have experienced consistent and accurate results everytime since (using my aftermarket Water Temp Guage as a comparison).
