Swapped shells, Shifter and inch to the right?
Hey guys,
I recently swapped shells and everything went smoothly except today I got in my car and noticed my shifter appears to be about 1"-1.5" inches to the right.
Am I just loopy or is the shifter supposed to be dead center in the hole in the trans tunnel?
I would assume the entire drivetrain is out of alignment if the trans is crooked
what would affect the alignment of the drivetrain?
Thanks,
-Miles

maybe the engine's motor mounts aren't sitting in the proper holes?..the Trans mount cross member bolted in yet?
You'd definitely know something is up when you see the driveshaft is crooked.

I'd also guess that one of the engine mounts is not bolted down 100% right. A small tweak at the engine will translate to a significant change further back. Check to see if the transmission mount lines up correctly, or if it requires some force to make everything fit.

any tips on how to make sure everything is lined up properly?

Check from underneath to see how the engine mount studs are located in the subframe slots. If the spacing isn't the same on both sides, the engine is sitting crooked. Removing the two bottom nuts, and shoving the engine may get it to slide over. Otherwise it'll need to be lifted slightly first.

Come to think of it, I kind of remember trying to get the motor mounts into the same position on the subrame so the engine would be even! I guess you learn something new every day haha
