Unhappy swap engine

I'm new in rotary know-how. Can Someome enlighten me with engine swap procedure and how hard is it???

I have contacted a dealer and they said it'll take 25 hours and $2,000.00. And obviously even having my own spare engine $2K is seemingly way out there.
Thanks!

depends on what you have and the engine you are swapping in i.e. v8, TII, 13brew, etc. Its pretty far up there on the know how level. Search and you will find......

Swapping the engine is EASY!! There should be a writeup here somewhere.

Just do a search for "engine removal" or something like that.

Scathcart has a good basic write-up on engine removal. Its pretty much, remove whats in the way and dont break anything, heh, i guess that goes for anything though. Run a search on his name, you should find some good results.

If you really want to save money and you have the engine yourself, do it yourself! It's a good learning experience, it's not *all* that difficult, and it saves you a lot of money!

heres the write up.....

Its super easy if your mechanically incline...with basic sockets/ wrenches you can get it out in a few hours.

if i can remember the sockets were 10, 12, 14, deep 17, 19
and same sized wrenches plus a 23mm . some pliers, 10" extension, floor jack etc...

I agree, its not too difficult to remove the engine. Just the right tools and an engine hoist would help a bunch but not a must. If you're still not sure about tackling the project, get the Atkins video. Its about $30 and you decide whether you can do it yourself or not.

or do what me and james did and rip it out.haha

it is fairly simple you just unbolt everything and catalog and lable every bolt and nut and you will be fine. An engine hoist will be a great help. I rented one for under 50 bux.
