is supposed to smoke?

hey i was just wondering, if i take my 89 n/a up to 8,500rpm, is there supposed to be a bunch of blue smoke when i let off the gas?

yes.
At that high of a rpm, the oil metering pump is pumping oil into the chamber more to lubricate the rotors more at those high rpms.
And why are you taking it to 8.5k, the redline is 8k. unless the engine is stock, its pretty useless to bring it anymore then the point at which it makes the most horse power. Though rotary do sound badass at high rpms

if its alot of blue smoke, and I mean like enough to make a ******* smokescreen to hide a tank.....then your oil seals are probably going kaput soon, especially at that high rpm.

well its not that much and my red line starts at 8,000rpm and my car has straight pipes and, yes it does sound amazing, and i don't ever take that high when driving i just like the sound at 8.5k
