Story of my life...

Cheers,

P.S. Honestly, WD-40 works wonders for my sunroof. I still have to help it back down but it slides better after a liberal spraying of WD. Give it a try.

You need to clean and grease it... WD40 works but it only works for a little bit because WD40 attracts and sticks to dirt which jams up your sunroof again. Lithium Grease is good. That's one long sentence btw, i bet chicks dig that .

Try cleaning your tracks with lithium grease..... But it sounds like it may be the drivers' side cable, sometimes they break and only the other side will open. If it doesn't open after you clean the tracks, try opening it manually, if only one side opens its probably the cable. Then you have to take out the sunroof assembly and replace the broken parts.

if you need to push it to make it work, grease up the rails, if it doesnt want to move at all, either the rail is messed up or the plastic clip that connects to the rail is broken

..Or the cable is broken. Mine did the same thing. I took it all apart to find the cable had snapped.

Solution for me: Don't use sunroof any more.

You can probably find one at the junkyard for practically nothing. Take off the headliner and you should be able to unbolt the entire assembly and drop it out and work on it.Just ductape some cardboard to your roof until you're done with it.

haynes manuals suck

Get yourself a mazda Factory Service Manual (FSM) for your year rx-7.

Or download all of the PDF files from the one of the websites like the one linked above

you no my sunroof has trouble opening all the way. it needs just a little assistance (pushing it up a bit) at one point right before you see the sky appear in between the roof and sunroof. so all i have to do is grease the rails and it shouldnt do that anymore? can i do that just when the sunroof is open or do i have to take it appart?

thanks
oh by the way it closes fine (and yay!! no leaks!!)
