Sunroof problems

Well my sunroof seems to be hung up on the passenger side, on the drivers side it will pop up, and that's it because the passenger side wont even go up at all. So I pulled it out of the car and have the whole sunroof assembly on my workbench, but now I dont know what the hell to do with it and where to start. I cant seem to figure out how to get that middle interior trim panel out of the middle of it.

Any help would be appreciated,

Travis

u can pop it off...there are snaps that hold it on...just go around the edges and work your way into the middle and it will come off!!

hope that helps if we're talkin about the same thing!

I dont konw if we are, because i'm talking about the panel that's right below the metal part of the sunroof, not the headliner.

This 'might' help. Before you put it back on the car, buy a can of lithium greese and spray it all down the track and stuff, make sure you get it all in there. Also you can spray it on the track on the actual sunroof part too. Mine would stick sometimes and not go up without giving it a little push start, The lithium greese helped a little.

Well the passenger cable is broken, and I can't figure out how to get it out. Lookin at the FSM doesn't help too much. I'm sure some of you guys have had this problem before.

Broken gear tape... Time to call around the local salvage yards for a sunroof unit.
Many times they will have one without the cap, but with all the parts you need.

I just got it all out and apart, and found that i'll need that cable part, is that the "gear tape"? and I see it's attatched to the "slider" the FSM calls it, but I'm not sure how to get it apart from that, or if i'll need the whole thing. Thanks for all your help.

My 89 rx came with a broken sunroof, haven't gotten around to seeing how to fix it. About how long does it take to pop the sunroof off/back on ? I could drive around with it out on these hot *** summer days.
