Sunroof

I have a 87 FC Non-turbo. First of all let me tell you that this is a great site! I have gleaned alot of info from it so far. Now, could someone point me in the direction of how to repair a sunroof that won't close all the way? Also, can you also point me in the direction of rear tail light lenses and rear window louver. The hardware is still on the glass, but I am having a hard time finding a louver.

Thanks.

your check if your sunroof close complety when use the manually option? Check to discart is someting wrong on the motor or the motor transmission. Also clean with WD-40 the sliding channels to remove any dirt or old grease that can be an obstacule in the way to close completly. This is what I did to my sunroof. Remember that you can not use grease because the dirt will stick there and would cause problems to the opening/closing movements on the sunroof.

if the sunroof cable that goes from the motor to the sunroof are good. Sure will open. That's the way I opened my power electrical sunroof when I was painting the car an the engine compartment without the engine and electrical cables installed. Jut take an allen wrench, I think is a 6mm, and remove plug located rear the headliner and move the motor shaft with the tool. This is also the emergency open/close option.

Ok. Remove the nuts under the sunroof headliner and take the sunroof out the car. Then, operate the motor via the swith and check how the sliding parts move thru the rails. This will take out weight from the motor and will spin freely. Also check the wing that lift in front of the sunroof for free movement.

For the tail light lenses, hit up your local pick-n-pull or something of the like. Out here in the SF Bay, 98% of the FC's in the yards are S4's, and of those, 90% still have their tail lights, usually in pretty good shape.

For the rear louvers, man...I have no idea, I haven't seen a single FC with those mounted either at a yard or on the road out here in YEARS
