Summer Plans
Summer Plans
Alright, im currently a freshman in college and dont have the time to work because studies and...the fun parts of college take up too much time. I plan on working full time this summer to upgrade my fc. Right now it is sitting at home, I come home and drive it around twice a month. I know I can make around 1000-1200 a month and devote that to my car. I will probably be able to work around 3 months. That should give me 3000-3600 to spend overall. My car is currently a bone stock n/a. I want to swap a turbo, but realize how important suspension and tires/wheels upgrades are too. I dont have enough to get good coilovers and the engine swap. I want the power from the swap but realize that good suspension is more important. Help
-dtss eliminators
-camber adjustment bar
-coilovers
-alignment
-diff (if you don't already have the stock one)
-supernow,gp sports or mazdatrix super angle kit
-decent size/offset wheels (rbmotoring.com/ziliva classifieds, mustang wheels anything in the 17x8-9 range)
-cooling system upgrades (koyo)
-exhaust upgrade, my best was a full 3 inch catback to a magnaflow straight through muffler
-good engine/trans/diff mounts. Dont have to be solid but should be in good shape
-a nice bucket seat

I think suspension should always be a priority... but it depends on preference. I think get some suspension and have fun with it. Also depends on what you want to do... drift.. drag... daily driven... all of the above.
Tune up, tune up, tune up.. Rebuild if you can afford it.
RELIABILITY should always be a priority. You have more fun with your car when it runs. You can have the nicest coilover setup in the world on your car and it won't mean **** if your engine pops.
Unless you live on top of a hill and have a friend with a towtruck.

Yes your short and concise statements never cease astonish me. Thanks Ted, but I am already thinking about next summer...I know its a long ways off but at least I have something to look forward to.
Thanks to everyone else that responded as well, Dependability is definately the most important. Im planning on buying a totaled tii and salvaging everything from it. I just dont know if I will buy coilovers first or do the swap first.
