i agree with casio.. personally i wouldnt have a sub box in a fast car because its more weight that i dont need.. ofcourse i dont drive my rx7 everyday so that might be part of it too. i always have a system in my daily driver.

Yea, mine was an all purpose car for a while, now I have a DD, but I am an audiophile, so not until recently did I actually get rid of my stereo in my rex....gotta make room for the cage

There is one big problem with the subs in the storage bins: There is barely enough space to properly hold 10" subs. 8" subs maybe.

DO THE MATH! putting an enclosure in the existing bins will net you about .35 Cubic Foot. Most 10" subs require around .50 and up to get a decent bass. The only way around this is to remove the bins and build a custom enclosure.

first off, geometry? yea, i hated that. but if i knew geometry (and as so applied this), i would build the box with
an incline aiming the sub away. problem with these boxes is there's not much room for error as far as trial and error
is concerned. you can turn the entire box 180 to aim towards or away the seats, but thats it. a lot of time and effort
and money could be spent, and then you could try and market your ideal box, but it'd be tested by, most likely, one ideal
speaker. i'm sure it would work with others anyways, but nonetheless, time-effort-money-risk.

thx sub9lulu

like i said my box weighs 22.5 lbs with the sub... hardly portly.. my amp weighs a few lbs and the cap and the wiring bring the total weight to at most 30 lbs.. which is a negligable weight gain.

maybe to balance it out ill go on a diet.. the ladies will love my system and my rock hard body.. or something

yea i have used plenty of subs and I would have to say my current JL 10'' in my ghetto benz is my favorite! Its not much of a system at all (I have some really cheap *** no-name amp cause my alpine amp got jacked) and it still sounds good! A lot better then my AudioBhan that got jacked wit the amp (that was a 12 tho i think - its been a while ). Nice installs tho!

I never said Audiobahn is better then JL. I'm saying if thats what he wants to use then I'm not going to tell him different. I'm just saying neither are all that great.

wow everyone just kinda went their own mary ways with this thread... haha... its all good... anywho the only reason i put those pics up was so that people like me that sit for hours trying to find out how somone did the bin install did it can just come look at my pics. Thats if they're smart enough to search. Once i get more done on it i'll do a complete writeup of EXACTLY how to do everything.... Noone really had any questions this time so i'll just wait till i finish the whole thing.

i'm with you, this was my second option set-up for show purpose it will be trimmed out with a fiberglass cover and back-lit with neons my first option was to remove both bins reconstruct and fiberglass a custom enclosure with amp rack

Yeah I'm accenting my sub and amp with neons. I'm just gonna use that stock light button so when you open up the lid it turns on.

i have the jbl 600.1 and ill tell you it doesnt give 600wrms probobly more like 400. my old power acoustic rated at 220 rms actualy bumped harder. its a good amp for SQ and for the effieciency of d class, but it should come with more bass boost than 6db unless your ussing a multiband eq. t does have a nice style tho. mines mounted on the bins behind the seats blends in nicely. no one knowes i have a sub until it hits for the first time. isnt that the whole point. its still a good choice if you are concerned about size and power consumption--thats ultimetly why i went with it.
