Re-gear the speedometer?

Does anyone know if you can re-gear the speedometer in order to correct for different size tires?

I keep looking for tires, but can't bear to spend $400-500 on tires that are only going to last 40k miles or less. But, the slightly larger O.D. tires I am looking at will throw my speedo off. I don't like that idea much either.

Can it be done?

You can swap speedo gear from a few other cars. Youll have to do the calculation of which one will suit you best for the tire diameter you are running.

P.S.- Id kill for tires to last 40k miles

My FC is my daily driver too. So a good 40-50k mile tire will last me 30-40k miles. I am religious with inflating and rotating my tires (I work at a tire shop).

I am looking at either a 225/50/16 or 225/50/15 for my FC. Gotta get rid of my 14" rims and do the 5-lug soon.

My current tires are getting pretty worn. Good for a little while longer, but still needing replacement soon (like next month).

Thanks for the information....hopefully I can figure out the proper gear and find one now.
