i am making a sub box where my storage compartment is on my car. i have a rockford fosgate and it recomends a air tight box. now do i just seal around the sub so no air can get in or is there something i am missing

Air tight is just that. 3/4" mdf is recomended, so dont plan on just using plastic and carpet. If you are just mounting it in the stock compartment you will damage your subs with over excursion. A sealed box gives resistance.

just toe let u know it is basically physically imposible to build a box with the proper volume for 12" woofers inside of those bins. what i did was just take the bins out completly seal the empty space inside with a whole lotta "great stuff" and then laid a pice of 3/4 mdf over it and seald it to the floor. then mounted the subs in that. it works and is sealed enough to alow for bass to be produced but it doesnt beat super hard. it works for me though just as long as i can feel it in my chest im good
