Anyone use the pockets as a sub enclosure?

I have a 82 gs and i'm thinking of using the pockets behind the seats as a sub enclosure. I think dynamating the inside then sealing it with firberglass would seal it up. Maybe 2 10's a side total of 4 or 1 12" a side. Ithink there is about 1-1.5 cuft a side. What do you think?

I was going to put 6x9's in them just to get a better sound. the stock's suck and the rearspeaker area is too small for 6x9's. i think its a good idea. It would be very easy to run. Plus, if you make it strong and mount it right, you could still lift it up and store some small manuals or something in there.

you could do that but you would have to make sure that the subs didn't need to be inclosed. That they could be free flooting speaker other wise the sound will sound like static. The 6X9s is a great idea though.

Hate to burst bubble....bad accoustical location for subs anyway....get bad cancelation. Try to stick em as close to the back or corner for better sound.

better idea

here is a better idea for you, you could always do what i did, i took out my spare tire...and inserted a horizontal costom box in its place, took a peice of wood (same kind you use to make the box) and formed a floorboard in the back, and cut a 15" hole in the carpet, (well, the hole according to what size amp you have) and then it looks awesome, i would recommend putting a protective cover on it though (like the sub cages they make that just screw into the box on top of the sub) its looks awesome and sounds awesome in my 85gs

Good idea...if you are real serious about it you could form an air tight fiberglass box by cutting out a foam box to fit the area then cover with fiberglass, cut sub hole and rip out foam inside...

I've seen many cars with the subs behind the front seats! I have no problem with my subs, plenty of bass, for my taste! I know I'm not going to win any SPL contest, but then again, I did not spend thousands of $$
