88 non turbo will not start
it hasn't been starting at all for weeks, though i've tried several times; my dad and i changed the spark plugs just now (the old ones were very fouled; oil all over) and it started right up. died a couple of times (it's very cold and i thnk i have a vacuum or injection problem too; it wouldn't idle if i didn't hold the accelerator) and then we ran it for about five minutes. the last time i kept my foot on the pedal, keeping the rpm's between 2500 and 5000. there was a massive amount of smoke the whole time, mostly gasoline smoke i think though it could have been oil(?), but most of that i assumed was from it having been flooded so badly during the times i'd tried to start it until today.
after i let off the gas and allowed it to die, it wouldn't start again at all. we pulled the plugs, and they had a good bit of oil on them but weren't fouled badly enough to warrant not starting. now it still won't start; we've tried everything i can think of.. what's the difference between now and a few minutes ago when it worked??

did you try the unflood procedure? (pulling the underhood fuel pump fuse, crank for a decent amount of time, then reinsert fuse and crank again)
if the smoke is blue it's oil.

There are two de-flooding procedures that I know of. Teknics suggested you pull the fuse, but it would help to know which fuse that is.
There's a fuse block on the driver's side in front of the suspension tower. Pull the fuse CLOSEST to the engine...It's labled Egi. Comp. or something... Stick that in your pocket, get back in, push the clutch and throttle to the floor and crank the car for a straight 20 or so seconds. Get out, put the fuse back in and attempt to crank it (With the clutch in, it makes it easier) but not the pedal to the floor. Crank it normally, in simpler term. If it isn't TOO badly flooded, it should start right on up. If not, you may be 'hardcore' flooded.
Remove the two lower spark plugs and put about a cap full of oil in each hole...stick the plugs back in and then try cranking. If it fires, then chances are you'll see a lot of smoke. Chill, it's normal.
If all that fails, come back here..
