Stupid Smog Question

I have a 3" exhaust turbo back and was thinking about trying to get it to pass sniffer test. Would a cat from a lets say ford or chevy truck be more efficient then a stockish ebay 3" cat or does the 13b not get hot enought to catalize such a big cat?

http://rx7.com/store/rx7/fcexhaust.html#Catbacks ..... The bricks in cheap catalytic converters are prone to destruction due to the rotary's higher exhaust temps. If you plan on just throwing one on there just for the test, that may work. Another problem is that rotaries also emit more emissions than standard piston engines, so the smog pump and line may be required. Please excuse fc3s91, were not all experts. Yeah the heat issue is why i was thinking about trying a full size truck converter since they are usually at least 3" and the v8s get pretty hot or even trying one of the new diesel cats but i dont know how those work or if there different. Excuse fc3s91 he is busy practicing for the gay pride parade so he is unable to contribute.

i wouldn't go for the 'bigger is better' thought. cats dont work well until they are hot, bigger one will take longer to heat up.

get a universal from checker and slap it up there. put a charcoal canister and air pump, if turbo, disconnect the wastegate rod. make sure there is no pre mix in the tank. drive the car around to get it hot...

should be good.

heres more details

Its not so much to pass smog as to just pass the what they are calling "Optional Road Side Surveys" Here in Cali they now have vans setup on freeway on ramps then when you drive by it tests your exhaust gas and if its over a certian number it takes your picture and from what some have said you get a ref ticket. Its basically smog entrapment. I was trying to find a way to use a high flow or big cat 3"+ to cut my emissions without cutting power to much it does smoke me out just sitting at a light.

If you get the ticket and go to court, just tell them that there was a car with mexico plates in front of you belching out clouds of coal dust like you normaly see them doing.
