An engine is not front wheel or rear wheel drive. A drivetrain is what decides which wheels are used to drive the car.

You can mount a 13B to virtually any transmission or drivetrain you want if you have a machinist make a bellhousing adapter and machine the transmission input shaft to fit.

What exactly are you trying to do?

There's pics floating around I've seen of an N/A mounted in an old civic of some description.

So yeah, you can do it.

Actually an interesting topic for some of the Locost/Kitcar guys. If you can easily mount (minimal machining) a rotary to a front transaxle, then the next logical step is to take the whole package and mount it behind the front seat in a mid-engine layout.

At the track last weekend I saw an Integra where this had been done (w/a Vtec instead of the rotary of course). Complete sleeper of a car until you popped the rear hatch. Absolutely gorgeous fabrication job - way beyond what I could ever hope to do.

the reason why and very stupid of me is because one honda person started talkin crab about the rotary engine so i told him that i will buy a civic convert the eng to a rotary front wheel drive and kick his butt all over the track with a honda chasi but with a rotativo so he could feel bad and stop talkin crab about rotary thats why i was wounderin about this set up. but i always wanted to try it.

Well, here's the thing...If you have to ask, then....(you know the rest).

If you really want to do this, then Mazdatrix has several bell housing adapters that allow you to mount the 13B onto various transaxles. None of them are cheap.

One thing to consider is that up until a few years ago, Honda engines ran backwards and thus the transmission was geared as such. Not sure if you can just swap the pinion on one of those...
