Stupid pop-up headlights....
Story: A few nights ago, I was missing my RX-7 so much (it's not on the road right now.... no insurance...) so I decided to go for a quick spin (just down my driveway, and a concession road... about 1/2 km) about halfway down, as I was reaching 100km/h I noticed that I didn't have much illumination... now my highbeams don't work anyway (need new headlights, or the switch is gone...) but I noticed that only one of my headlights had popped up, the other was stopped partially within my hood... Looking later on, I can find no obstructions, and it will not move up OR down, even with the hood out of the way...
Question 1: where should I be looking for obstructions? The car is covered with a fine grit right now, anyplace that coulda gotten into that would cause it to stop?
Question 2: The headlights in the attached picture look as if the owner has simply cut out the section in front of the headlights, and boxed it in... is that all there is to it? would that work?

yea it works
i did it on my gtus RIP
all you need is a sharp cutting wheel and a steddy hand i just cut from the flash to pass lights up to the he light then just unpluged the motors
withch you should check one might have burnt out
i wouldn't leave the lights all the way down i would put then up a inch or too so they still shine to the side a bit

I pulled off my headlight surrounds once and when replacing them one wasn't quite straight, barely noticeable. It jammed on the bodywork when I lowered it, but I couldn't see where until I'd jacked up the car and pulled all the plastic under the car off.
Pull the "retractor" fuse in the engine bay until you get them working properly. Any time they're not completely up or down, the motor has power. Leaving it stuck half way will burn the motor out and/or flatten the battery.
