Strut Bar kit - E-bay
Hey Just looking for a bit of advice. I am looking to buy front/rear strut bars for my turbo II I came across these. http://cgi.ebay.ca/86-87-88-89-90-91...ht_3162wt_1139
I know there is not much science or engineering behind a strut bar. Just wanted to know if anyone is running them or if i should stay away. They are not the cheapest or most expensive but there is no need to hack up the rear shock tower sheet metal for this one which is a plus, just drill 2 holes.

The rears look quite specifically like the base plates are designed to go inside the rear speaker towers, with the bolt holes matching to the upper strut mounts - so it would require cutting the sheet metal and interior trim on the speaker towers.
looks like a knock off a the mazdapseed bars that mazdatrix sells, I wouldn't mind rocking those
but then again I'd rather have the actual mazdaspeed bars =/
to the guy above me, it looks like you could take those two bolts on the base and just drill two holes vs cutting a huge hole for the rear bar

"no cutting required" the speaker tower sandwiches in between 2 pieces of the 3 piece tower bar that bolts together. All that is needed is to drill 2 holes in the speaker tower. check out my crafty paint picture Attachment 401196
As bars go, this looks fairly well made, with the oval section, tri-chambered tubing looking strong and light. I'm strongly of the opinion that strut bars are largely a cosmetic affectation in FC's, unless triangulated and combined with other chassis reinforcements or a cage (the weakest area of FC chassis is the doors/cabin, especially on sunroof cars), but these bars at least look well-made and aren't very spendy, so you could do worse. I'd even consider the rear bar, if I could still carry 4 r-comps and assorted tools and comfort/convenience items to and from the track in the back with it in.
I only bought the rear lol
but the front shouldnt even touch the intercooler at all.
There are some people here running that exact kit.
The bar passes right over the alternator.
