None of my RX-7s have had power steering, since I only buy base models. I love the manual rack. It's light, easily turned and simple. I have drivin cars where the power steering pump has been eliminated, and I don't like it. Feels unnaturally heavy.
I find that it only takes a bit to get used to driving with no p/s. I pulled my belt off, and it's sooo much more responsive. My poor ol winter beater (85 tbird) p/s went and it's 10 times harder to turn then the rex, but it's still manageable. Anyone make aftermarket steering racks out there, I'd love to find a tighter ratio eventually
I have a ps rack with all ps stuff removed and looped the inlet and outlet hoses off the ps rack. Its not too bad of a deal. Feel is really good when on the road except for my crappy front suspension.
the only non PS experience i ever had was my MX6 turbo when it threw a belt. god that was horrible to park. at least the FC is RWD so it would be bearable. i plan on going natural one day.
My 'FCdoesn't have power-steering, and like the other poster stated, I like it that way. It goes EXACTLY where you point it, and responds to the SLIGHTEST moves. Most power-steering cars I have driven require a fairly large movement to get the car to respond, but not the case in my FC. And yes, it is a PITA to parallel park, but the good out weighs the bad.
Been runing with out PS for a good 6 months or so. Its not hard at all. If you don't have the ability to drive with out it I am sorry but your REALLY weak. If you have seen a pic of me I am a skinny guy and I can drive around at below 5mph without a problem so all those ""I can't autocross" guys can eat me cuz you are just lazy or in need of a good set of weights at home and a good workout schedule.

When you first remove the P/S you'll get an annoying beep...beep...beep
look under the steering column area you'll see a small box with a large plug. unplug it. beeping will go away. remove box, tuck wires away and your done.

, but it made for a vauger feeling and herefore it was difficult to feel that fine line between traction and spin out. i pulled the pump and looped the lines. no regrets.
