strippers wanted

Got ya! Anyway, i want to strip the vacuum system to bare minumum and the wiring harness as well. The car is an 88 t2. The kid that owns it has cut the wiring harness up, and is paying me to fix it. I'm removing the rats nest and all unnecessary vacuum. Any pointers or things to look out for. A few diagrams would be nice for me to take home if anyone knew of any. Thanks

Check the FAQ. There are several links to emissions removal. A search for "emissions removal" will also turn up the 10,000 threads related to this subject that have already been posted this month.

Are you going to actually remove the wiring and pins from the harness for the unwanted items?

If so then follow thw wiring up the runs and remove them from the power wires and grounds.
I cut mine off at the stock crimps which joined mutliple wires together.

It's also much easier to remove all emissions than just some(then you really need to know the wiring schematic).
Here are all the wires I pulled out of my harness.

then an example of how many pins were left over when I was through.

Another thing you can do if you remember.
I added in extra ground wires and tied them all together.
One at the ECU to floor board which runs up to the Boost sensor and then over to the engine block ring terminal.

The FSM has a schematic on which pin does what on the yellow ecu plugs.
X15 and X16 are keywords to find out what the Orange plugs do.

As for vacuum.
Here is my diagram I made a few years ago. Yo can further simplify this by eliminating the FPR solenoid and removing the PCV lines.

Shouldn't you be able to remove the PRC and run a vacuum line straight to the mainfold for the pressure regulator? and the PCV system as well. Just vent the oil filler tube. You need vacuum for the BOV, MAP, FPR, and oil injectors. I don't see anything else that needs to be there.

yup, and that's why I said you can further simplify it by removing the FPR solenoid and PCV items.

I've since then removed both and run straight reference for the fpr and use a catchcan for the crankcase.

The Factory Service Manual, as well as the Haynes manual, covers the vapour system in good detail.

The charcoal canister absorbs fuel vapours from the fuel tank and holds them until the engine is under vacuum. The vapours are then drawn into the engine and burned.
