The Racing Beat presilencer for the S4 (86-88) NA creates enough backpressure to operate the aux ports.

Here it is with a replacement pipe for the 2 pre-cats: http://racingbeat.com/resultset.asp?PartNumber=16206

I assume it is a manual transmission, correct?

You might want to find someone with a straight piped NA to hear/feel first. I understand they're in a realm of their own, noise-wise.

You could, however, use the Racing Beat presilencer/cat replacement, and put some glasspacks in the rear. It will still be "straight through", but be slightly less abusive than pure straightpipes.

I've done basicaly that. Racing beat true duals into single-baffle tractor mufflers (very like RB presilencers) into glass packs. Wonderful sound and tone, much deeper tone than stock.

When I got my 90 vert it had Bonez presilencer/main cat with straight pipes welded in place of the main mufflers. First time my wife heard it, she said it sounded really great. Then she offered to pin my name and phone number on my shirt so the cops would know where to dump the body after they stopped me and beat me to death. It was that loud.

It did sound great when the 5th 6th ports opened and the motor spun towards 8000 rpm. My teeth are still buzzing.
