Street Port and smog.

i'm not into super power, but i was thinking, what's the biggest port u can do to an NA and still pass smog? cause i was thinking, put silencers and headers, etc, then when i need to smog, put stock exhaust back on and still pass smog. how much power can i have by engine alone and still pass smog? i'm asking this cause i'm deciding whether in the long run i will be happy with the NA ( autocross etc. ). i want like 250rwhp, but i dont think i can pass smog if i had that much on NA.

i know someone that passed with a street port in CA, if he can do that, u can too. just need stock cat that's good condition, and make sure ur car is working right. but if i cant get pass 200rwhp with NA and pass smog, i think i'll jus go turbo.

i dont think you'll find a clean cut number. i failed with a stock port. its easy. any car at any power can pass (not true, i know. excluding certain amounts of overlap or similar variables). if the car is tuned well enough and runs correctly, you should pass. its (mostly) about tuning.

I don't think you can even pass emissions in CA with a non turbo making much over 200 FWHP... well alone RWHP.

My street ported vert is just passing 88 model year emissions, (by the hair of its chinny chin chin) but it is only making around 160-170 RWHP.

Your best bet for 200 RWHP would be doing N02, as that wouldn't show up in the test (but might screw you on the visual- depending on how good the smog shop is).
