strangle sounds when driving

I recently have been hearing two different sounds from my 91 NA. The first sound is when I am in the 1500-2000 rpm range. When I feather or press the gas slightly, I get this whirl sound, like wooooooo. The other sound might be related to this, which is when I release the gas pedal, I hear like a thunk sound. What are these things? Should I be afraid? How do I fix them? Thanks guys.

What area of the car are these sounds coming from?

The first sound is probably your stock e-fan... does it only do it when the engine is hot?

Where are the sounds coming from? Front of car? Middle of car? Rear of car?

i think the woooo sound is somewhere from the front and the thunk is from the bottom of the car. These are my best guesstimates.

ninja edit : this happens all the time when I drive, regardless of a cold start or normal temps.

The "thunk" could be a bad front diff mount...the "wooo" sound...woo-hoo?

Iis your Air Inlet hose from your air pump not connected?..that would make a "wierd sound".Also the Thunk..Bad Front Diff mount or U joints on Driveshaft, bad Transmission mount, broken Engine mount..the list goes on..Only By taking the time are you Really Gonna Know.Nobody can 100% Diagnose the car on the internet.so get a flashlight and Get Dirty!..My Car make an ARGHHH sound when I get into it.I found out it Was ME!..because I am Getting OLDER!(grunt and Fart!)

Also, if your alternator is dirty or going out they can have a tendency to howl a bit. The thunk is more than likely bad mounts of some kind (engine, diff, tranny, etc.).
