strange smell and more

Hi I recently bought a 1990 non-turbo, had it for a little over a month, since I've gotten it I've had a new motor installed soon followed by a new transmission...well when I say new, actually used with about 40,000 on each. but anyway, I was driving yesterday (it was raining heavily). Wasnt driving fast at all, and i started to smell something sort of like pop corn. My cousin was with me, she smelt it too. It soon went away and I kind of ignored it. But the smell came back 10 minutes later and at the same time all my warning lights came on, as if the car was in auxilary mode. The car itself still drove fine but i was worried and went home and have not drove it since. Any Ideas what it could of been? By the way I'm not educated on rotary, so try explain as detailed as possible, thank you.

if all of your warning lights came on then your alternator is bad. is the belt still there?

like alex said, get the alternator checked out. The only other thing would be some electrical component is getting over loaded??? do all the switches and gagets work in the car

Note the part where Icemark says "Unless they were disconnected for a while" because this is absolutely true.

Every J-Spec motor we have ever gotten in has had a frozen airpump on it.
