straight pipe from headers back?

Friend has a straight pipe off his race fc that bolts right up to the racing beat headers. Wanting to know pros and cons. Mpgs? How loud will it be? Hp gain? Worth doing or should i keep my cat back dual exhaust?

On my NA im running a racing beat header which collects into a single 2.5 inch pipe back into a 3 inch vibrant TPV muffler and its probably the loudest sound I have ever heard. If you enjoy talking to people in your car, listening to music and not having everyone around you hate when you drive by then dont do it. It does sound pretty cool, makes more mid to top end power and shoots huge fireballs but over 2500rpm and you cant hear anything else in the car and outside everyone is covering their ears!

N/A wise you will see some gains with the headers alone....Having a straight pipe or just headers is like listening to the devil rip ***, a sound so loud that it comes with it's own buzz... yeah that's right you will get a high by just listening to your car idle and overdose under throttle, a dose so potent many don't survive and if you do survive you will be forever hooked. You will be unable to listen to your own thoughts and your car will have a harmonic vibration that will shatter the bones of the weak and warp the minds of the sane...don't get me going on a ported engines

In short it will sound amazing but not ideal for daily driving as you will get the dirtiest looks from other commuters, your neighbors will curse make a voodoo doll and rip you limb by limb and the Police will have a fine written wile eating lunch and they will easily find you anywhere in the world (3 "Inadequate exhaust" tickets did it for me.

It will be loud as heck, I ran on my old na FC, stock manifold to straight pipe to two ebay tips and it was very loud I had to keep the silencers in.

On my current FC I have this setup https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generati...-dual-1055607/

Racing beat headers + RB Presilencer + Apexi muffler and tiny resonator and it is still really loud in person.

As others have said it will be very loud as a pure straightpipe off headers, I assume if it bolts right up you heard it on your buddys racecar? It will sound like that on your car also.

Here is the best description of how it's going sound...

You'll be driving a giant chainsaw down the street.

I know I wouldn't want to be driving a chainsaw down the street.

Ear-splitting. Take off the pipe that goes to your current exhaust manifold. I did that once when I cleared out the cats on my old NA and forgot to bolt everything up; it's hilariously loud.

Not sure what to do. Dont want it so loud I cant hear myself think and that I get a ton of tickets. But would a megan racing carbon fiber muffler help at all? Its not like the open inside. The end of it has something inside (im guessing a silencer of some sort) thats only about an inch- an inch and a half wide.

Not by itself. If this is for their collected header then buy this:
Universal Presilencer , 2.5-inch ID for RX7 1986-1992 - Racing Beat
and weld it in just after where your pipe bolts to the header. Then buy this:
Universal Muffler, 2.5-inch ID for RX7 1986-1992 - Racing Beat
and the tip of your choice and put at the rear. Or you may be able to put the Megan racing or a Magnaflow at the rear but the Racing Beat will take the heat and last whereas the others may not.

I dunno, I find that my FC isn't overly loud being straight piped..regardless, your neighbors will hate you for it haha
But you can always add a better muffler to quiet it some what.

The only time you can run a straight pipe reasonably would be if you had a Racing Beat catback, or something that kept it similarly quiet in the rear. And that setup will still be stupid loud. I had TWO high flow cats in the middle of my car, then a Corksport catback and it was REALLY loud. I now have a Racing Beat catback, a turbo, and 1 high flow cat and I think its extremely quiet. Just giving you perspective on what I find quiet/loud.

TL;DR You cannot run a straight pipe even with a single exit rear exhaust.
