straight pipe?

i am buying an 88 RX-7 N/A with 130k on it. right now the exhaust is messed up bad. i dont have the money to mod it right now nor do that much of a rebuild. is straight piping a rotory any good? i was told that n/a fc's are really loud anyways. i was wondering if anybody had some suggestions.

straight pipe is a good gain of power... i have mine into true duals. its a good power gain especially with a header. but if your gonna get it straight piped get some descent mufflers that will quiet it cause it will be loud.

ok. i was told that it has 3 cats on it. and they are clogged. it starts, but then chokes out. prolly due to the clog. can i take all that crap out from the downpipe on? then just stick some mufflers on?

u can hollow the cats out. as long as theres no holes in the cats u'll be ok. if there is u'll get backfire at hi rpm's. also u'll have to tie down ur 5th and 6th ports if ur gonna take the cats out.

Or you can just do the msd activated switch thing that opens the aux ports when it hits a certain rpm that you set. Thats what i'm gonna do b/c mine are jacked up.

on NA u would not be able to get rid of 2 presilencers that easy without using header, but u could replace main cat with straight pipe....

What do you mean when you said chainsaw and how do you know? Did you do this to your car or just responding by what everyone else has said about it in the past? I have actually heard a 7 with gutted cats and it didn't sound that bad. Any one think it sounds tight or just f**ked up? Input=
