stock turbo psi at redline?

Hi guys, I don't like to post unless I have trouble finding the answer so here goes.

Last night was the first time I really pushed my car after break in. the boost gauge read 10-12psi all the way to redline on third and about 6000rpm on 4th ( let of the throtle). I was under the impression that the stock turbo could hold 10psi to redline on the higher gears but my psi didn't go down at all. Is it possible or is my boost gauge reading bad?

some of my mods:
Street port s4 engine 1200 miles
stock turbo
tmic
3" tid
3" dp mp ( all the way to the split) 2 1/2" to rb mufflers
4 x 550cc injectors
SAFC-2
Rtek 1.5
act pp,
cc bronze 4 puk clutch plate
hks blow off
tb mod
FPR
can't remember any more, those are the most imp. ones anyway.

Thanks for your help!

JP

most people with stock turbos have all said the same thing. A) because they are tired turbos and b) because the turbine side is fairly small for a rotary engine.

Your car is modified.
Therefore, none of the numbers for boost will apply.
There are just too many variables to consider with a modified car.

In general, the stock turbo cannot hold boost all the way to redline unless you have a good EBC.

Well, you have a street port which probably helps with that.

Yeah, unless your wastegate is non-ported your car won't hold boost till redline.

And if it isn't ported, well, you'll have retarded huge boost numbers in the midrange. Congratulations!

the stock boost control system sucks *****.. there's no time like the present for an upgraded turbo!

on a stock s5 block, ive never had boost drop off near redline, my stock s5 turbo has held 14 psi allt he way to redline before no problem, and im using a manaul boost controllor.

your motor might be droping off in psi due to the street porting?? you cant run as much boost with a street port, as the mtor needs more air the turbo cant keep up ith that as well...

thanks guys I just thought it was weird the boost didn't go down. sideways7 you are right about the streetport, going back I remember it wouldn't hold more then 7psi at redline before the street port. I am still pretty new to rotories and turbos, but I have become adicted to them . Thanks again for clearing it up.
