STILL having 3800 rpm hesitation!!!
okay so i had some free time today and decided to clean my 5th and 6th ports. cleaned them up that it was easy enough to open the actuators with my fingers. installed them back on and went for a test run, and i still have that damn hesitation at 3800 rpm...any one know what else could be the cause of this? if its grounding then what should i ground? Car is an 88 btw.
I just ran into the same problem today. I checked and cleaned my 5/6 ports and actuators. Those are good. I tore down and inspected the throttle body, it seems fine to me. I was told that it could be a fuel filter problem, but if you're having the same exact problems as I am, then I know it can't be that.
So I guess we're in the same boat. Except I have a 90 na. 1st gear seems good, but it starts to almost bog down around 5000. When I shift into 2nd, it pulls again, but the hesitation kicks in about 3800-4000.
So, just as 808rx7 said, what's the problem? I'm still doing a search, but I thought I'd add my 2 cents here.

How long is the hesitation? And does it do it worse when you are gentle on the throttle and not as bad when you floor it? If so that is about the RPM where the secondary injectors kick on. Espcially noticeable if your housings are ported or other engine mods. have been done. Hope that helps! Cleaning the injectors is a good idea too. Helped on my TII.
Alright man, I've done some searching and this is what it could be so far.
1) Grounding Issue. Clean/replace all grounds grounding instructions
2) Vacuum lines and or Engine Seals are leaking. Which ones, I don't know
3) TPS needs to be adjusted. If you do a search you can find out how to adjust that.
4) Fuel filter. If you haven't changed your fuel filter, ever, you should do so. I know I need to do this asap.
5) Some people were saying that their Catalytic Converter was cloged up, causing the hesitation. I might check that one out over the weekend.
The FAQ says that the main problem is the grounds. There is an extra ground that you can add, because you have an 88. The link above should have all the directions you need. I'm going to go try this out and see what happens. Good luck to you man. Hopefully this works out for you.

Okay, I'll check up on the TPS tonight. As far as my hesitation goes, it hesitates both when I ease into the gas and if I just drop the pedal to the floor. It's really depressing. I feel like I'm driving a civic because my car will hit those high rpms and go nowhere!!

It's not normal, it means something's wrong. It's got nothing to so with the 6PI system either. It's usually a problem with the main EFI ground, as covered in Aaron's write-up linked above. Read it and do what it says. There's no point in asking for any more info until you've done that.
I went on myspace and asked other rotorheads what to do. A quick, temporary fix is to unplug the TPS. I tried it and it works fine. Your check engine light will turn on. I'd rather run rich than run lean.
Like I said, it's just a temporary fix.
