Question Stereo Wires.......

Im trying to install my own Kenwood head unit.....well it's normally quite easy in any car, except for this one.

I have a 89 Turbo II which I think came with a stock CD/Tape/EQ combo? or something like that. There is like 20+ wires back there, where there is normally about 10...and to top it off, they aren't the standard color most stereo wires are.

Basically, anyone have a diagram or list of which color wires are which? I have the speakers hooked up for sure, but I can't figgure out which is the ground (normally black), the power (normally red) or the cont. (normally yellow). Naturally the power antenna is messed up so Im not gonna worry about that, radio in alaska is crap anyhow

Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Is the factory harness already cut?

DONT CUT THAT HARNESS!!!!

Go get a $5 adapter kit from Best Buy!!!!!

this works fine.

Also, I get the adapters for the factory speaker harness too!

Its worth it when you have to remove any of the parts!!!!

Otherwise, hmmm. I dont have the diagram handy.

try the factory manual at this link.

Ha!

Yeah, I that would have been the easy way, but whoever had the car before me must have put in their own stereo and cut the harness' off......so, I have a pile of wires

Im downloading the wire diagrams now, hopefully they will help, but if they are like the usual ones, I doubt it hehe.

Thanks though Sniper.

Sorry.

they changed the page.

When links fail like that, you should go to the main page by trying the main address (knocking off the part with slashes and navigating manually to the intended page.)

http://www.iluvmyrx7.com/Technical_I...ice_manual.htm

Here, i did it above.

You know, with a volt meter you can tell what it what.

and speakers can be done with a AA battery.

In that order.

Its easy.

I can do it in 15 - 20 minutes.

just make up a test light, a 12v light bulb with wire soldered to each end, ground 1 then poke around to find a positive and make the bulb go. thats ur cont, then turn the ignition on and find the ignition power.
