Steel wheels (large image)

Hey, did FCs ever come with steel wheels? Or are the ones on my car one of the previous owner's sick jokes ?

Also, does anyone know the difference in weight between these (typical steelies) and the wheels that usually come on base models?

86-87 Base models came with steel wheels standard. The phone dial 14" wheels were an option

Not compared to the other side

I replaced the doors a month ago so all the rust is gone now.

None. They are available in 5-lug as well, with a black plastic centercap.

My friend's 1990 mystery NA car has steel rims.

It has a/c, p/s, tilt steering, and p/m.

What car would this be?

I suspect that the wheels did not come factory, and are probably 93+ 626 wheels.

It sounds like he has a GTU, if it did not come with a power sunroof or power windows.

That's what confused me... They had either the 5 spoke GXL/GTU style, or the BBS type for the TII's and GTUs

I'm not sure canadian cars came classified the same way, or with the same options.

We have the GT model and the GX model as well. We don't have some of the model's offered in the states.

Our options packages differred as well. We got the better p/s, no mouse belts, and windshield washer nozzles for our TII's, I know.

I'm pretty sure these wheels are stock, so maybe they were available on Canadian cars.

Yes, I said GT model.

AHHHH scathcart those are Canadian base model wheels occasionally found on Jspec cars as well.

I guess when I was seeing: Location: USA I figured you were in the USA rather than Canada (we didn't make canada part of the states yet right???)

Odd canuck cars, eh? We get better seat belts in the S5's, but the option of the heaviest (and ugliest) wheels available.

Do you fellows have the GT model in the states? (I think it is the equivalent to a sport)

Edit: I altered my location when I was down in portland, and simply haven't changed it back. I currently am in BC, Canada.

The sport was actually closer to your GS model, the nearst that the GT was I believe was the S5 GTU.

Yeah, Canada got slightly different cars... your bumpers are much heavier as well and you didn't get mouse belts on the S5 cars.
