When you try and start it initially, does the engine seem to crank over quickly, or slowly. I would have the battery tested @ parts store, Sears, etc, they do it free of charge, then you would know if it's the battery or not.

ya, you can rplace your spark pulgs, coils, and wires and it should speed the process up if you are worried about that...and its always a good idea to check your batt. if its cranking at a normal rate, then its prolly not the batt. or the starter, but you can check both at sears.

If it's annoying to you, you could do some checks. I would assume it's not spark, so you could check fuel pressure after shutdown, and see if it holds or bleeds back. Then check pressure on cold start, before and after starting, and see if pump kicks on immediately. Naturally that would entail hooking up a fuel pressure tester into the feed line with a "t".

Well form reading another thread you have in the 2nd gen forum, where you said that it smokes on start up and that it has afterburn (poping noise in the exhaust) it is most likly leaky fuel injectors, just take them out and have them cleaned.

You probably don't need a custom coil or ignition system since it will be over kill if you still have your stock intake set-up. But if you have a carburator it may give you more power.

But for coils I believe that you are talking about the MSD blaster coils. But also for a stronger spark you can get a Fireball igniton made by Crane.
