you could try banging on the starter a couple of times if it's a stuck solenoid; that still wouldn't explain why the electrical equipment's 'bogging' down with a new battery, though

Check all the fluid levels. Buzz could be due to low coolant or low oil. also check all the vaccuum hoses and make sure they are connected. check the fuse bocks under the hood too. its right in front of the drivers side strut tower. also chekc the charge on the new battery.

dude, if you've already killed a new battery that fast, you've got other problems...did you do anything to the car recently (put in stereo, fog lights, whatever)? All your fuses good?

If your battery keeps dying after a recharge you've got a short- if you have no idea what might have shorted, start pulling fuses; for instance, pull all main fuses except for the main and the headlight in the engine bay, then try the headlights again; if it's the same thing, real dim, the prob will be in one of the two circuits; if the headlights are nice and bright now, the problem circuit is one of the fuses you pulled; start putting fuses back in one by one, and keep an eye on the headlights, if you put a fuse in and the lights dim, you'll know that's the prob circuit...this is assuming, of course, the short is not bad enough to blow the fuse in the first place...

O.K., if ya can, jack the car up on the driver's front side enough to get a look at the starter (7 o'clock on the tranny)... take a good look at the wiring- one small, one large terminal on the starter/ solenoid, and a large ground, most of the time at the top starter bolt. check the connections for security, check the wiring for any contact or chafing against any metal parts. If that's all good, check the wiring in the engine bay- from the alternator, battery, and main fuse box...Oh yeh, bang on the starter a couple of times too...

battery cable ends in good condition? my cable ends were very corroded and i would get full power until i tried to crank it and everything would dim and when i left off the key everything wouldnt come back on. So i popped the hood and moved the battery cables just a millimeter or 2 and boom got full power again. got in the car tried to crank it and everything dimmed again. so i cleaned the battery cables and then put vaseline all over them to keep them from corroding. Havent had a problem since then.

So it starts and stays on for two seconds and then it dies.
