Starting problem, starts then dies! Help!

My car will start, but shortly after just cut off. I dunno why it's doin' this. I thought it was because my battery was old so I went and picked up a new one. That didn't solve it. Any suggestions?

My car does the same. If I hold my foot on the gas till it warms up it will idle on it's own.

why do people always assume their battery is at fault? How mislead can someone get?

Then again I'm sure theres plenty of reputable mecahnics available to say "oh... well the battery needs to be replaced anyhow..."

What's a "mecahnic", lol...

Jumper the yellow two-pin connector near the AFM, and try again...Any difference?

Close. It's Air Flow Meter. Find the air filter box. It's the big black flat thing behind the passenger's headlight. Just under the filter box is the AFM. It's bare metal, and connects to the filter box on one end, and a big black hose, going to the intake manifold, on the other.

The air filter is changed and I have the fuel filter but I need to drain pressure out of the fuel system to install it. In order to do that I need to start the car. Thanks guys I'm gonna go plug it in because it isn't plugged in, lol. Hope it works!

That totally was the reason why it wouldn't stay on. It worked I got it. But now there's another problem. The car wont go in gear!!!!! I just did a clutch replacement and I guess I did it wrong. I checked the hydraulics and that's not it. I must've fucked something up along the way. I'm pissed...

I had a bad pin on the AFM when mine acted up. I used a small screw and screwed it in the back if the harness to hold the Pin in place. I have not had the problem since....Ed
