Starting Problem

I've always had this problem when I start the car, it would act different every time.

Sometimes it would rev up to 3k, then drop pretty quick and stall. Sometimes it would rev to about 1k, acting like it would want to die, then it would either die or start reving up to about 2k and stay around there till it warmed up. Sometimes it would rev to around 2k and stay there till it got warmed up. And so on.

After the car would run for a while, it would idle perfect.

Just the other day, I started having trouble just getting the car to start. It would turn over, but not start. It would take a few tries, and it would eventually start, acting the same as it usually does.

I thought it would be fuel related, so I got a new fuel filter (the one under the hood). Didn't solve my problem.

I'm thinking it is still fuel related or could be something just sticking sometimes or whatnot.

Need some help

Thx

I've got the same problem with my car. It's actually just been sitting around for the last year, but when last I checked, I had a handy buddy of mine help try and get it started, and one thing he noticed was that some of the vacuum hoses weren't pulling much air when he put his thumb over them. I've read on these forums about the propensity for hoses to get brittle and crack. Anyways, if you have a hose involved in fuel delivery, that could be the problem...just a thought. When I start on my car again, that'll be the first thing I look at.

I checked for leaks with a water hose a little while ago. Didn't seem to find anything wrong.

don't use a water hose to find Vac leaks... spray the vac lines with carb cleaner when the car is running if there is a leak, the car will die a bit when the carb cleaner gets sucked into the vac line cause it will cause a hyper rich situation.

a good place to spray is UNDER the UIM , there are a bunch of vac lines under there and the Vac spider for the oil injectors is under there too and that thing is KIND OF important!!

I heard getting one of those small propane tanks wiht a nozzle on it works well, just turn the gas on and start poking the nozzle around, the engine will rev up when it gets sucked in the motor through a vacuum leak area.

I will try this. Thank you much. I have about the same starting problem, and i cannot figure out what is wrong with my baby. Vacuum lines? Could be. I will experiment.

Well, it hasn't been doing this for about a week now.

Ugh. I hate it when that happens. :|
