Starting a new project..

i just bought this JDM front clip the other day

i'll be vulturing it and using everything to convert my S5 N/A to Turbo...

just thought i'd share my joy with y'all

sorry for the poor pics.. it was night time and a camera phone..

it has 130,000 km's on the ODO

*Raybrig Headlights with removable bulbs
*Nardi Torino steering wheel
*R-magic Grounding kit
*R-magic Oil filter (JDM TYTE YO!)
*Tein coil over suspension with adjustable pillowmounts (i dunno how i'll get a rear set tho.. those are somewhere in a pile in japan)
*I think it has a flywheel clutch combo.. but i'm not sure till i crack it open...

I'm not sure about the fogs...

i think it had a cone filter at one time too. and a shift ****.. and rims but those were taken already..

Downpipe is stock..

and now for the pics

*update*

i wired up an external fuel pump manually to the front clip

changed the plugs

and she fired right up!

shweeetttt....

idle was a little low.. but still smooth..

and the revs are alot lighter then I remember...

I think she may have a flywheel in there after all...

Thanks man

yeah i'm not using the Dash.. it just comes with it

i'll salvage the Boss and get the wheel re-wrapped and restored..

anyone know if these cars came with Nardi's as a factory option? or is it an aftermarket wheel?

i would never hack my LHD car to make it RHD... infact around here ppl do the opposite.. my friend converted his RHD GT-R to LHD...

I'll extend the harness and use everything possible from the car in mine..

Rad/ A/C/ power steering oil cooler.. even the horns lol

oh yeah i bought the car for $1,400 all inclusive

*update*

I took the Front clip back to the workshop... so i could check it properly...

here's a short Video of her after i started and warmed her up

Those revs seem so light... Is that cuz of the open exhaust? or because it's high compression? or does it have a flywheel u think? (sorry i haven't had a running Turbo II in over a year i can't recall anymore and it was an S4)

i'm really happy with this so far... I can't wait to drive a Turbo Rotor again...

I got a closet full of mods just waiting to be put on..

Nice! Looks like you got a good start for a really long project. I would love to have my car converted to right hand drive but money gets to a real issue there. Good Luck with the 7!

*UPDATES*

i've discovered something quiet interesting last night..

It looks like Japan makes hybrid turbo's for their FC's as well

at first i thought it was a stock turbo.. (stock manifold stock turbine side)

but when i pulled off the TID... i was like WTF ?!?

so I tore off and cleaned up the turbo.. and this is what i discovered:

notice the bracket adapter/spacer

I think it's a To4b or a To4E compressor.. but i'm not sure... anyone know a way i can find out?

what color is your dash? if it's blue, (and since you're not gonna use it) part out the demister grilles.

T04B compressor housing is like almost 3" on the inlet - 2.75"?
T04E compressor housing is 4" on the inlet.

It looks like a T04B compressor housing.

Small update

things have been quiet lately but i finally have an update

the original clutch was toast... so I decided to replace the whole lot while it was out...

never seen a clutch disc like this one... the "meat" almost feels like a velvety cardboard material..

very weird...

SPEC says it holds 380 lbs/ft.. who am I to argue with them?

also replaced the release bearing with a new one...

the N/A FC engine is out and this one is ready

Original flywheel is 25 lbs cast iron pig...

this is a aluminum 12lbs unit... even rotating the motor by hand i can feel the diff...

and now for a couple pics..

Right now i'm working on Adapting the JDM Chassis and EM harness to my car...

it's all been pulled from the JDM... it's just a matter of putting it in to my car now..

That's a Kevlar lining.
It's not the best material in terms of clutches.
If you manage to "burn" the Kevlar material by accident, the whole thing will be useless.
Summary, it doesn't like to be abused much.

Update:

the car is alive! and running well...

all that's left is putting humpty dumpty back together again..

the car is in pieces at the moment

no dashboard and wires everywhere.. but it runs!

YES THAT'S CORRECT, IT'S RUNNING ON JDM WIRING ECU AND MAIN CHASSIS HARNESS!

what's left:

Install the Tein Coilovers
Install the Turbo Diff, drive+half shafts
Refurbish the A/C
clean up the wiring harnesses and route and wrap them in new loom
re-assemble the dashboard and interior stuff
install racing brake pads
install Strut bars
Install cusco Roll cage
paint the Volks then slap them on the car

Future plans:

Paint the car
Buy a 2 way diff (still deciding between Cusco or Kaaz)
sway bars
urethane bushing kit
DTSS eliminator
Shim the steering rack
Front lip
Rear wing

then Take it sideways

update..

Last night I mounted the Teins, the strut bars, and the whole TII rear subrframe and drive shaft...

today all that's left is tranny fluid, Clutch bleeding, Throttle cable, short shifter and the car should be moving under is own power....

but now i have a long boring tedious break in period to wade through while waiting for the clutch before i can get on it

a thought just occured to me tho...

if the car has a T04b front housing... can the stock fuel handle that? or is my ecu chipped perhaps with upgraded secondaries?
