Starting/Electrical issue

Hello everyone,
Today when I go start my car, I turned the key, and i hear a click.
After that the warning lights turn dim. I do not hear the starter turning at all,
the lights stay dim until i turn the key to off.

I've checked the battery at Autozone and it is a good battery,

What can be the cause of this electrical issue?

Hit the starter with a hammer, then try to start the car.

i've had a few starters die on me before (from various cars, one from the RX-7 too) but i've never see the lights dim like this. the Weird thing is it seems like when i turn the key there is not enough power to start the car, but the battery is good and charged.

could be shitty battery terminals or loose battery terminals....could be grounds at the chassis......connections at the starter....try the hammer trick.......

is it cold where you are?

hmmm
have you tried boosting the car...? I wouldn't rule out the battery just yet being that it is the number one cause of no starts....

Since you already checked and made sure the battery terminals are on good and clean and the wires at the starter solenoid are on good and clean..................Buy another starter solenoid for approx thirty bucks and see if that helps.

The starter solenoid is on the top of the starter. Its the piece the wires connect to.

A smack with a hammer never hurt if the brushes are old/worn/screwed up. The shock of the hammer sometimes helps *reseat* things in the starter. It's a short time *fix*.

i'll check out the battery terminals and the wires connecting to it, if that doesn't work, then i'll get the starter checked out
