K im at work and i get in my car and start it up and listen to some tunes. my friend that was close by is like dude your smoking blue from underneath. im like oh its ok its prob just oil from the exhaust. kept going and it smelt like burning rubber im like what the ****. maybe a wire was close by the downpipe ? pop the hod. ****** fire right behind the firewall by the starter. not thinking i just dumped water from a waterbottle i had. that put it out. and i look underneath (after i shutoff the car). and there is a wire just hanging there the rubber boot/cover burned right off. and the solenoid looks fried. what now ?? i need some help. I just insurance that day !!! grrr very very frustrating.

The wires are all +.  The - grounds through the entire starter case.  This is why if ANY part of the wire or wire connector touches the case of the starter, it'll short.
It's safer to replace the whole starter...

Scott, nice install - where'd you buy the extinguisher (mine is currently rolling around behind the passenger seat).
Of course, if you had gotten the chromed one and mounted it on the A pillar, it would have added 37.6hp!
