Ok. So I got in my car thinking it would start. I let it warm up and sit for at least 10 minutes. Then I had to go back to my class cause I left some books. Before I shut off my car, I revv to at least 3k to burn up any excess fuel, to help against any flooding. So when I get back and try to start my car, nothing. Not even a crank? I have a new starter, clutch lockout switch, battery, plugs, and wires, alternator and I just couldn't figure it out? So after about 2 hours it starts up and drives fine. Get home. Park it. Shut it off. Try to start 2 hours later, and its the same deal. Any ideas here guys as to what is going on? Any help would be great.

Yeah my car does this sometimes, I go to start it up and just kind of goes "click" and doesn't do anything at all.

I think its just a sticky clutch switch or something, I just let out the clutch and put it back in and then it usually starts up just fine. Gotten used to it.

I don't see how revving to 3K before shutting it off helps against flooding, because yeah its making the engine spin faster but its also getting more fuel to compensate. I think I've only flooded my car once and that was after a VERY short trip (like half a mile) and I did a quick 2nd gear pull before I pulled into my drive way and shut it off. Didn't have to pull the fuses or anything, just held in the accelerator when starting and it was fun though dumping out all manner of fuel from the tail pipe heh.

Yeah. Your problem sounds very similar to mine. I don't know about the switch sticking though. I haven't checked it out, buy its a possibility.

Yeah. I need to clean my injectors or upgrade, but I'm waiting till the holiday season is over. Unless Santa wants to help me out here, I don't see them coming anytime soon. Lol.

Faulty Key Switch? It may be contact points in side. Every one all ways looks beyond the very first thing to check.

Werd on that one, with something so intermittent i'd definitely be looking at clutch switches.

Also check the connections at the starter. Corrosion can get in between the connectors and prevent current flow.
Disconnect the negative from the battery,
jack up the car and put it on safety stands.
Crawl under with a socket set and remove the nuts holdong the connectors to the starter solenoid.
Shine up the connections on the cables, connectors and nuts and washers with sand paper and reassemble every thing nice and tight according to the torque specs.
Dont forget the little spade connector on the solenoid.
Reconnect your negative batt terminal.

If I don't rev up to 3k and hit my fuel cut switch and hold down the accelerator, my car will flood, mo matter what, it runs on the escess fuel pressure until its gone, letting less fuel leak in.

It brings the fuel pressure in the system down. Rev to 3k, turn your key to off, and let it die.

Or, if you have a fuel pump switch like I do, rev to 3k, turn off the fuel pump, let it die, turn it off, walk away.

When my car wouldn't start due to a click it was because the battery terminal connectors weren't making a good connection. Next time it happens, get a DMM and check for voltage past the terminals when you go to start the car.

beacuse if you turn the key off fast enough when its spinnin fast it will suck the remaining gas out at least thats what i was told by an rx7 owner and it fixed my car

My car does something that sounds similar, too, but I'm pretty sure its related to the actual ignition switch or something, not the clutch or neutral switch. When I try to start it, it jsut sits there and doesn't crank, then I try again and it cranks like normal. The weird thing is that the stuff that goes off when you start it like the blower fan goes off, and the fuel pump comes on like when you start it, but it doesn't crank at all. If you dont put down the clutch, then that stuff doesn't happen. I've just leanved to deal with it.
