Spring recommendations for soft ride (90 vert)
Anyone recommend SOFT ride springs for a 90 Convertible? My OEMs are dead. I can get new OEM fronts, but rears seem to be on 'indefinite hold'.

I think he means what lowering springs are comfy...Eibach springs on KYB non adjustable struts...you'll love it. Intrax are softer as I understand it and lower the car another inch compared to Eibachs...which is too low in my opinion for suchs a soft spring and will cause you to ride on the bumpstops all day and blow your struts real fast.
If you want a softer ride, replace your OEM springs with OEM and buy some adjustable Tokico (or other) shocks. That will let you custom tailor the softness of your car much better.
Note I believe www.mazdatrix.com has a good deal on OEM springs right now.

Thanks fellas. What is the life of coil springs. Do they last forever?
I've talked to Mazdatrix (reminded me why I go to Mazdaformance now) and they said there are no aftermarket springs for the convertible. I saw Eibachs site that did show a listing, but info was very limited. Mazdatrix said they did not fit. Also, Mazdatrix said I should be able to squeeze the spring by hand while on the car. Thats why I ask how long do springs last???

Mazdatrix just finalized their vert springs and first shipment from Japan should be in 1st quarter of 2004.
My 929 springs went out at 110K miles. My vert springs still work, but their getting saggy. My TII springs were definitly shot at 145K miles.

I have 145k on my vert and I guess my springs do need changing. I just want to be sure before i pay the price-they aint cheap. Some people say coil springs last forever; some say they wear?????
eibach springs will fit in the vert...but the car will sit lower than intended bc the vert weighs so much more...since the eibachs only lower the car 3/4 in I don't think this is a huge problem.

I found some Conv springs (supposedly) and ordered them for $86 each. I wanted to get the Eibachs so I called them too and they said the springs would fit but I was going to have to do some modifications-forget that!
$220 for 929 springs. My gosh, whats up with that?

you save $1.91/ea
Yeah, Mazda doesn't sell the volume for 929 stuff, so anything that can't be stamped out fairly cheaply (seat covers, springs, etc..) get's jacked up because they have somebody make the stuff in 1 offs. At least you can get it OEM though, so I'm not complaining.
I'll just probably just have some springs made for cheap based on corner weights & OEM height.
