Speedometer stopped worknig?

I really don't understand this. I changed my brake line to stainless steel, and replaced the fuel filter as well. Got back in the car, and the speedo doesn't work, neither does the trip/odometer. The tach and other gauges still work, just not the speedo. Any one have an idea?

If you have a manual look at the wiring diagrams and check for physical connectivity of the wireing to the insturment cluster and speedo cable. If you don't have manual look on fc3s.org. you might have bumped somthing while changing the fuel filter.

Your speedo cable probably broke. Mine did on the highway once it was funny as hell watching it drop to 0 when I was really doing ~85 ish

The sensor plugs into the rear of the tranny, on the driver's side. It's a thick black cable, not one of the wires.

It could have been disconnected from behind your dash as well. On the driverside of the engine bay against the firewall is this thick black wire that has a rubbet gommet on the fire that leads from directly behind the speedo in the dash. Give it a gentle tug to see if it isnt loose.

When replacing the speedo cable, should I drain some of the tranny oil out at all? Thanx a lot!

If you disconnect the plus from the tranny the fuild will come out... be ready.

Did you verify that it is in fact attached to the back of your cluster before you swap it out?

Somehow, I managed to disconnect it from the back of the speedo, I'm at a loss as to how that happned, that thing clips pretty securely.

Also, carx7, what mods do you have on you 88 TII to make that much power?
