Your speedo cable has like a spring wire inside that hooks into the tranny. Id drain your tranny fluid and then unplug the speedo cable and replace the cable. Only due this if you have never changed your tranny fluid, then buy a new speedo cable for $25 shipped off ebay and make sure its plugged in behind the cluster. More then likely your cable just went bad. While your at it id check the rear tranny seal and put amsoil back into the tranny.

dude, you can get a whole new complete cable assembly from napa for less than $20. i replaced mine on my 10AE without a problem. make sure you have a good center section before you go replacing the cable. pull the cluster and check for a good tight connection there.

jason, check napa's website and you'll find the cable. its not an oem cable and it doesnt have the firewall grommet but it's a third of the price!

My gear in the tranny went out. Just drain the oil and yank the cable out to look at the gear, its plastic, you'll know if its bad.
